OFFICIAL RULES
The International Pairs (IP) takes great pride in the quality of its players and their high standards of behaviour. In order to maintain this level of excellence and to ensure that International Pairs events are enjoyable for all, the organisers require that all players adhere to the full rules below.
IP CLUB LEVEL RULES
1. The competition is open to every affiliated golf club in participating countries.
2. All members over the age of 16* can enter (*finalists travelling to the Canadian and World Final under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a guardian).
4. All players must have a current, official, club handicap certificate. The maximum handicap for men is 24 (ie 18 shots) and ladies is 32 (ie 24 shots). Any competitors with a higher handicap will compete off the above.
5. Clubs may host a qualifying event by April 1, 2007 to September 15th, 2007. It may be held in any format and over any period of time.
6. All events (men's, ladies, mixed) staged must have a minimum of 25 pairs to automatically guarantee a place in the final.
7. If the minimum entry level is not reached the following options are available:
- The club competition may be run over several days to achieve the minimum number of pairs.
- Clubs may subsidise the difference between the number of pairs who entered and the minimum of 25 pairs required.
- Clubs may run this event in conjunction with another club in the local area in order to achieve the minimum of 25 pairs required.
8. The competition shall be played in accordance with the rules of golf as laid down by the RCGA, together with any local rules approved by the club competition committee and any extra local rules approved by the committee.
9. All competitors must play with golf balls that conform with the RCGA current list of conforming balls.
10. Any disputes shall be settled by the club competition committee whose decision shall be final.
11. Club winners can only be officially registered when event organisers have received full payment of the competition entry fees minimum eg: 25 pairs x price of entry per pair.
12. In the event that a club is unable to fulfil its place once it has registered its winning pair and payment has been sent, no monies will be refunded.
13. In the event that one half of a club's winning pair drops out, another player may replace them, but this player must have played in the club's IP event. If the player did not compete in the original event his or her score will not count towards the pair's final score.
14. In the event that the original club winners can't play in the semi-finals the club may substitute the stated winners with the pair who came next in order, having played in the competition.
15. Any complaints relating to points 11-14 must be forwarded to Internaitonal Pairs Canada within 28 days of the club event.
16. All settlements will be confirmed in writing
IP CANADIAN FINAL RULES
1. The final is open to all final qualifiers and, in exceptional circumstances, wild-card entrants as chosen by tournament organisers.
2. The event format for the grand final is a 18-hole four-ball, two man better ball Stableford competition with ¾ handicap allowance. The maximum handicap for men is 24 (ie 18 shots) and ladies is 32 (ie 24 shots). Any competitors with a higher handicap will compete off the above.
3. Stableford point system; Bogie = 1 point, Par = 2 points, Birdie = 3 points, Eagle = 4 points.
4. All players must present a current official club handicap certificate at competition registration time.
5. In the event of a tie after 18 holes, the results will be decided on a count back on last 9, 6, 3 and 1st holes.
6. Play will be foreshortened or cancelled in these cases:
- In the event of inclement weather ie thunder or lightning, play may be suspended by the sounding of a siren or horn. Players should mark their ball in the position as it lies and return to the clubhouse.
- The tournament director or tournament organiser may declare a result for the competition over the total number of holes completed by all competitors.
7. The tournament director or tournament organiser may authorise the re-siting of a hole or holes if the course becomes waterlogged during play.
8. The first points of contact for any ruling are the tournament officials. Should recourse to the tournament referee be necessary, this will be undertaken by the tournament officials.
9. Any unsettled disputes shall be settled by the competition committee (three to form a quorum) whose decision shall be final.
10. The competition shall be played in accordance with the rules of golf as laid down by the RCGA together with any local rules approved by the event competition committee.
11. All competitors must play with golf balls that conform with the RCGA current list of conforming balls.
12. Should one half of the original winning pair be unable to compete in the final and be replaced, only the remaining original player's score will count.
13. Any competitor, who during the course of an event misbehaves by, for example, swearing, throwing clubs, or vandalising the golf course or club house, or acts in any manner which might bring the game into disrepute, may be debarred from entering or taking part in any event for such period as the committee may decide. 18. Prize winners who do not stay for the presentation will forfeit their prize, unless due to extenuating circumstances, and prior authorisation has been given by the tournament director.
The International Pairs reserves the right to make any necessary amendments to these rules.
PRIZES
CLUB LEVEL:
Club winners will win a place in the Canadian Final which will include air transportation &car rental (where applicable) in addition to one night's accommodation on a twin/double sharing basis, a welcome reception and a competition round of golf plus prizes from associated sponsors in accordance with the RCGA guidelines.
GRAND FINAL:
An official trophy presentation at their home club.
Free entry in the following year's International Pairs world final.
A host of prizes from associated sponsors in accordance with the RCGA guidelines.
